...at this bird-infested hour?  Whacky.

Anything going on today/this evening?  I really, really need to get my hair cut today, but maybe some hanging out at the Hearth?  Have super-secret groovy plans that have a Casey-sized space in them?  I haven't had a chance to sit and chat with some of you *cough* ([livejournal.com profile] psylent1  and [livejournal.com profile] freyapax  in particular) in too long.  A week, at least.  I'm pining.

Oh heck, why not.  Comments screened.  Tell me things!  Fun things, sad things, tasty things, random things, sexy things.  Let me know if you want me to unscreen to reply. :P

one of those days when the thrash and
changing wind begs
to dance
barefoot and wild-haired
with the susurrus and the hush
and the gray swifting clouds
I sit behind glass
watch the swirling go by
gum wrappers dance the steps
my feet tap out

Thank you!

Thank everyone who came out tonight, and everyone who has made this Christmas wonderful.

While cooking today, my thoughts started leaning towards the end-of-year introspective inventory, but I'm way too tired to write it tonight.  It's in the works, though.  Summary:  this year has ultimately been good, but holy fuck, what a ride.

Must go fall down now.

I've been sitting at the dining-room table staring at a piece of paper with a lot of lines on it for an hour or so now. Enough lines that the possibilities for this drawing are no longer open and free-roaming; on a blank page, a line anywhere is in place. On a half-formed idea, a line can give form to or destroy what is nascent. So I dawdle and fret. And check the internet, of course. Being denied a picture I'm looking for by some obstinate server somewhere, I flit around and come across this:

"Art, like morality, consists in drawing the line somewhere."
~G.K. Chesterton

I think the Universe just told me to get off the pot, so to speak.

I'm very fond of this picture of the kitchen counter I took on a whim this morning.

I should listen to my musculature more closely.  It know things about line.

Last night was a fabulous party.  It was one of those synergistic parties where I was in a perfect party frame of mind, and most (but sadly not all) of my favorite people in the world were there.  At one point I was sitting in the hot tub snuggling with [livejournal.com profile] jenmarie , getting a foot rub from [livejournal.com profile] dicemonkey , chatting with K and [livejournal.com profile] lancehunter , and trying really hard to look up Paije's skirt. :P  I had a lap full of [livejournal.com profile] avahasnoalias , hugged lots, laughed more, told really embarrassing stories about myself, "sang" to the birthday girls (who looked stunning!) drank good wine, and basically had a wonderful night.  I avoided getting thrown into the very, very cold pool.  Last night fully qualifies as winning.

Today is working and then hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] valatan  before he heads out for Christmas.  We may go dancing with the [livejournal.com profile] triplemare  crew, or out to a party, or chill.  We haven't made up our minds.   Tomorrow is birthday party and studio space investigation.  Monday evening is on [livejournal.com profile] psylent1  reserve.

I need to put a post-it note up on my mirror reminding me that I'm an introvert, and sometime about Wednesday of next week I am going to find myself face-down on the couch only able to communicate by toe-wiggles.  It's coming, I can feel it.

What have I done to deserve ridiculously stupid tech support today?  I've been good, I promise.
Maybe it's an elaborate joke.  This is over-the-top stupid, even for outsourced technical support.  Stream wouldn't hire these people.

I think it is now safe to say that I have adequately overcompensated for yesterday's tragic caffeine shortage. Now to go to work and be as annoyingly chipper as humanly possible.

Just in case you ever find yourself making herbal tea instead of coffee before you stumble in to work on one gray Sunday morning (how that happened, I don't know - I blame the cat), and if you find yourself desperate for caffeine about, oh about now, and calling Epoch and begging them to deliver with a side of shameless flirting doesn't work, and you find a single-serve coffee pod in the storeroom that may have been back there since the '90s, and that sounds like a good idea?

Trust me, it's not.

*shudder*

I did it so you don't have to.

Some beauty to go with your lunch (and my "morning" coffee).  The site does make irritating noises.

The Beautiful Mind

Round woman with frizzy hair conquers tea-clogged garbage disposal armed with nothing more than vinegar, sodium bicarbonate, and language that would make a jaded pundit blush (just like Nana taught me).

Huzzah!

Now, the litter boxes.  I lead a thrilling life. :P

To whomever it was that hit my car while it was parked in front of my house and drove off?

Thanks, fuckwad.  I realize you probably can't afford the insurance claim any more than I can afford to fix it, but a fast-food napkin with a "Sorry!", even without contact info would have been nice, ya know?

I need some sort of Santa suit.  Cheap and fast.  Anyone have any good tips?

Dancing barefoot in the snow will make one's feet feel funny. :D

Yay!!!

[livejournal.com profile] onyxlynxx  just became a hero of BookWoman.  The three of us working today feel much better now that we are stuffed full of chocolate cake. :D

I've been using my neti pot in an attempt to stave off cedar fever and further viral nastiness.  All good - except just now I used it, and I don't know if a bit of the salt didn't dissolve or what, but one half of the inside of my head is on fire.  OW OW OW OW!

Ow.

Come on, you wanted to know right?

All I want is a nice, hardcover copy of Finnegan's Wake.  I don't need first editions, collectors versions, or anything like that.  No, paperback won't do - since one doesn't so much read this book as start a long-term relationship with it, durability is key.  Work with me here, toobs.
