November...

So writers have NaNoWriMo. I think painters and visual artists need something as well. November does seem to be a good month for knuckling down and devoting serious time to one's projects. In more sane climates, it's cooling down and a good time to nest with creative introspection. Here - we borrow the mood and crank up the A/C.
So maybe November can be NaPaCoMo (national painting completion month?). Or hey, pick your own catchy abbreviation. I'll be in my studio. Maybe I can finagle my way out of Thanksgiving - I really hate going "home" for the holidays and having my sleep schedule all wonked out and people grouchy at me because I'm tired and not very interactive because hey - it's the middle of the night for me, natch. I used to love the holidays, but the past couple of years they have become being almost entirely about keeping
longshot14's family from being too pissed off with him because his night-owl wife isn't perky and cheerful (or present) at 8am Christmas gatherings, and that sucks all the joy right out of them and makes them an obligation. A really expensive obligation. Anyway, griping about compulsory celebrating aside, it's time to paint. I've started having the lovely experience that happens when I'm working regularly: ideas only happen when I'm already working. It can get frustrating to have to shelve ideas while I finish something, but I've got a little backlog now. I hope I can get to them before they expire.
onyxlynxx, please let me know if my increased tromping through your house gets on your nerves.
