I'm trying not to become an obsessive poll-watcher here. I'm also trying not to get too optimistic: this is a nation where people genuinely believe that Jesus rode dinosaurs, and that trickle-down economics hasn't been proven so thoroughly wrong that it's hardly worth even poking fun at anymore.

I know. Like I said - trying not to be too optimistic. I've been a liberal too long to not be aware of the Democratic talent for snatching defeat out of seemingly certain victory. It seems appropriate.

It would take something crazy for the Republicans to win at this point, and I was betting on McCain until the recent economic shit.

Just remember - the polls are what they *want* you to think, and don't have any credibility whatsoever* If it makes you feel any better, I've been certain of an Obama victory since roughly the first debate or thereabouts.


*except that polls are REALLY good at shaping the opinions of those otherwise uninformed. e.g. about 80% of the population. In that respect, after the fact, they look very "accurate".
