Dear Twitter:

Please fuck off and die.  You have succeeded in turning my friends' page into a mashed-up list of short, unconnected babbles that I'm sure would be quite interesting in context or - I don't know - on the same day they happened.  In actuality, however, it is like trying to read a bowl of Alpha-Bits.  And those damn marshmallows always squeak against my teeth and give me the heebie-shivers.

Thank you,
Peska

THANK YOU!

I may have succumbed to facebook, but never, never to The Twitter.

I suppose I could see Twittering the original way - people go to Twitter to follow particular people. It seems stalkerish and...well, kinda boring to me, but whatever. I'mold and crotchety, apparently. I don't understand Loud Twitter at all. Hey - I'll send all of yesterday's 140-character bits of in jokes and stunning commentary on my lunch for my whole lj list to see! They'll love it!

Urk.*

*Not slamming anyone who twitters, loudly or quietly, I love you all anyway. But I hope you don't put any important information in those things, as trying to read them makes my eyes hide somewhere in my prefrontal cortex. That smarts, man.

Actually I only signed up for it so I'd have a way to send notices to LJ if I'm traveling/had no puter access and this way I can send from my phone. My local phone plan doesn't seem allow me to text directly to LJ the way you Americans can, heh.

Loudtwitter is sort of annoying the way it batches all the day's messages. I wish there was a way to pick and choose which ones go to LJ. Oh well.

But they're all a day late though - is that helpful at all?

I think it depends on when you set them to batch off, though that feature seems a bit wonky. Still experimenting with it...

Cool. Hope it works out for you.

I get the feeling I'm on the losing side of the generation gap, here. My grandparents thought cell phones were evil, my dad is still dubious about the intertubes and chat programs, and I hate twitter.

I'm okay with that. Everyone has to find theit inner stodgy sometime.

I'm with you, Sparky. Why, in my day, we had to make copies with a handcrank, and we had to use the phone to talk to people! And it was good enough for us!

Yep, hate it. I have finally poked most of my peeps who do it and made them put it on a filter that I am not included on!

That's an awesome idea. As it is now, I figure if I'm subjected to random 140-char phone farts, they're subjected to some light-hearted grousing about it.

I was going to say, the Twitter stuff can be sent to just a filter, and you can ask the folks using it if they could dump it to a filter that you're not on.

About the only way I'm going to end up doing Twitter is if we can't get our text-to-LJ problems solved but can use Twitter. And then I'm pretty much just going to want to use it the same way I use text-to-LJ, to send short messages when I'm not at the computer.

That bit about those damn marshmallows is dead-on.

...and I thought I was the only one.

As for the Twitter? Some people do better than others... I pick and choose who I'm going to ignore.

You know? I am ridiculously happy to find out that I'm not the only person those marshmallows torment. It was a lot of squeaking, flinching, and wiggling around on my chair as a kid for one lousy sugar rush. :P

I've always had issues with reflux from too much sugar (hence my lack of a real sweet tooth)... which does make the squeaky little bastards all the more repulsive to me.

i'm with you on this one. I would rather read a full, normal paragraph from my friends. Count me in with the anti-twitter crowd.

But hey, if that's the way my friends wish to express themselves, I think they should, whether or not I enjoy reading or not.
