Note to self 2398.43:

Having difficulty with gesture when you haven't done figure work in at least two years now != suck at art, can't do this, and should have gone into something more in line with my abilities, like actuarial science.   You're out of practice, is all.

Do - Grab the newsprint, make several dozen frightfully bad drawings.
Pester [livejournal.com profile] avahasnoalias  for that figure drawing group's information and get to working from models again.
Sketch unsuspecting sleeping friends and loved ones.

EDIT:  Oh hey, did I lend Art and Fear  to one of you lovelies, or have I lost it and need to reorder it (heck, maybe I'll order a case of them and hand them out)?

Don't -
Freak out and have an artistic crisis.  They don't accomplish anything.  Well, maybe they boost the metabolism, but so what?

Also do - Go buy cat litter, ya dolt.  No, now.  Okay, get gas first.

Random studio pic, with painting that I'm getting back to after it languished for a long time on the wall.

These aren't the one avahasnoalias was talking about (and I'd like that info too - if I get it first, I'll share w/you and if you get it, please share with me,) - ancock Recreation Center and Dougherty Arts Center used to have modelling sessions. I am not sure if they still do, but that might be a place to start. 397-1458 is Dougherty and 453-7765 is Hancock.

I believe you loaned Art and Fear either to Robert or Lynn when we were over there at Christmas.

Erm, this may sound horribly awkward because we've met like twice so far but I actually worked as a figure model in college. So if you're looking around . . . Will model for free. Or cookies.

Art and Fear - I think that's the book I read most of over at your place many many moons ago and found it insightful (in the way that a crack upside the skull is insightful). But no I don't have it.
Your studio, even from here, is inspirational. :) Go creative work!

As I was decorating my FS envelope just now, I was thinking of you, envying your permission to play with art anytime you want. I'm okay on some stuff, other stuff I wish I had more time to practice.

About half the envelope turned out the way I kinda wanted it, the rest of it I did stuff on that I'd like to fix, but hey, the postage stamps are already on there so I'm just gonna leave it as is. I'm sure the post office will just think it's weird. *shrug* Which is probably the point of the exercise, come to think of it. :)
